Hard Enduro Covasna 2026 comes to an end with Kornel Ott taking a convincing victory in the PRO class, finally scoring his first win of the 2026 Romanian Hard Enduro Championship season ahead of Jozsa Norbert Levente.
Ott completed the race in 7:59:03, finishing 35 minutes and 45 seconds ahead of Jozsa, with Zsolt Varga completing the podium. After losing more than 15 minutes on Saturday with rear brake problems, Jozsa was unable to recover the deficit on the final day. Ott was again fastest on Sunday, beating Norbert by another 20m 10s.
Ott: “I Feel I’m Heading in the Right Direction”
After the finish, Kornel told Zona Enduro that his form following Red Bull Romaniacs is exactly where he wants it to be:
“After the last few races, I feel my current form is exceptionally good, especially after Romaniacs. I really feel like I’m heading in the right direction. Today the course was shorter, but much more technical, with some really difficult climbs.”
The timing could hardly be better. With only Golden Mountain remaining on the 2026 national calendar, Ott has found his strongest form exactly when the championship reaches its decisive moment. The final round is scheduled for September 24–26 in Băița.
Maria Grigoraș Continues Her Remarkable Season
Another result worth highlighting comes from Maria Grigoraș. The Master Bike Cluj rider finished sixth overall in Hobby at Covasna, racing directly against the boys, and now moves into second place in the Romanian Championship standings.
Her result is not something that appeared overnight. Earlier this season she already showed that is in strong form. A full season of work, consistency and perseverance is paying off, and Maria’s progression has certainly become one of the stories of the 2026 Romanian Hard Enduro season.
The Other Classes
- David Ignat won Expert after an incredibly close battle with Eduard Petcu, separated by only 1m 02s overall. Mădălin Chelcea, David Rusanescu and Elod Pal completed the Top 5.
- In Veterans, Zdenek Cyprian defeated Paul Harpa by only 3m 53s, with Bart Stroișteanu, Raul Gadola and Tibor Hostyanszki completing the first five.
- Elisei Ticusan took the Hobby victory ahead of Akos Fazakas, Bendeguz Svella, Filip Macarie and Jozsef Horvath, while Maria Grigoraș followed immediately in sixth. Bad day for Championship leader, Butiu.
- Krisztian Laszlo Simon won G-Boys ahead of Iulian Lucian Schiopu and Viorel Constantin, while Mihaela Isabela Ionita was the classified winner in the Women’s class.
