Extreme XL Lagares 2026 delivered a proper hard enduro showdown, and when the dust finally settled, it was Manuel Lettenbichler who came away with the win in the main race and strengthened his position at the top of the championship standings.
The Red Bull KTM rider stopped the clock at 2:24:05, but this was far from a comfortable victory. Mitch Brightmore pushed all the way to the end and finished just 7.9 seconds behind, making it one of the closest battles at the front. Teodor Kabakchiev completed the podium in third with a time of 2:28:32.
Just behind the podium, Mario Roman took fourth in 2:29:24, while Billy Bolt rounded out the top five in 2:29:47. That meant less than six minutes covered the first five riders in one of the toughest races on the calendar.
It was the kind of result that shows just how deep the level is right now in the Hard Enduro World Championship, with no room at all for mistakes.
Behind the top five, James Moore placed sixth, followed by Ashton Brightmore in seventh and Wade Young in eighth. Eddie Karlsson and Lorenzo Gandola completed the top 10 in Portugal.
Just as important as the race result itself is what it does to the title fight. After round two, Lettenbichler now leads the championship on 33 points, giving him a bit of breathing room, but not much.
Teodor Kabakchiev sits second on 24 points, while Mitch Brightmore is now right behind on 23, only one point further back. Mario Roman remains fully in the hunt as well with 22 points, so the fight for the top positions is already extremely tight.

Further back, Wade Young, Billy Bolt and James Moore are all tied on 15 points, showing just how close this championship already is after only two rounds.
So while Mani leaves Portugal with the win and the championship lead, the message from XL Lagares is clear: nothing comes easy in 2026, and the riders behind him are close enough to keep the pressure on.
