The 2026 FIM Hard Enduro World Championship heads to Portugal this week for Round 2 at Extreme XL Lagares, one of the most iconic and demanding races on the calendar.
Held in Lagares, Penafiel, deep in the Douro Valley, the event is known for delivering pure hard enduro. Riders will face 60 kilometers of brutal terrain, including huge granite steps, technical water crossings, slippery rocks, and tight vine-covered sections where even the smallest mistake can cost valuable time.
Extreme XL Lagares has long been one of the standout stops of the season, and in 2026 it returns with renewed energy. After a period of fading from the spotlight, the Portuguese classic is back stronger, tougher, and more relevant than ever.
This year also brings a fresh format that keeps the pressure on from start to finish. Instead of everything coming down to a single decisive race, championship points will now be awarded across all three days — Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. That means riders must be fast, but also smart and consistent throughout the entire weekend.
