Verona Takes Control from Day One

Verona opened the 100th edition of the 6DAYS with a huge first day, finishing almost 30 seconds ahead of Garcia. He then managed that advantage with three consecutive second-place daily results before finishing third on Day 5.

The final motocross test was all about managing the situation. Verona got a strong start, settled into second place and did enough to secure the individual victory, the Enduro2 class win and an important contribution to Italy’s World Trophy success.

Andrea Verona: “It’s the end of day six and I’m really happy! I’ve won my first individual 6DAYS title, which is an amazing feeling, and we’ve also won both the World Trophy and Junior World Trophy with Team Italy, so it’s been an incredible event for all of us. The final motocross test went well. I got a good start and settled into second place, which was enough to secure the overall victory. I’m really happy with how everything went and especially with the final result. I want to say a huge thank you to everyone involved, especially Red Bull KTM Factory Racing and Team Italy for all their hard work and support throughout the week. It’s been an amazing 6DAYS!”

Garcia’s Five-Year Winning Run Ends

Josep Garcia arrived in Portugal chasing a sixth consecutive individual 6DAYS victory. After losing almost 30 seconds on the opening day, the Spaniard fought back by winning the next three days and finishing second on Day 5, reducing Verona’s advantage to less than ten seconds before the final test.

The very soft sand of the final motocross race worked against Garcia, who finished eighth and ultimately had to settle for second overall. He still leaves Portugal as the Enduro1 winner, adding another strong result to his season.

Josep Garcia: “The 6DAYS is done and Team Spain finished fifth overall, while I was second in the individual classification. As always, I gave it everything I had, but just came up short of victory. The heat made things more difficult today and I suffered a little bit out there, but I gave it my best. I’m really proud of myself and the whole team for what we’ve achieved. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout the week.”

Italy Takes the World Trophy

Verona’s victory helped Team Italy secure the Men’s World Trophy, ahead of France and Sweden. Italy also won the Junior World Trophy, making it a huge centenary edition for the Italian squad.

Spain finished fifth in the Men’s World Trophy, while the United States took the Women’s World Trophy with Brandy Richards, Korie Steede and Rachel Gutish, winning by more than nine minutes.

KTM Wins the Manufacturer’s Award

KTM also completed a very successful week by winning the Manufacturer’s Team Award with Verona, Garcia and American Grant Davis. TM Moto Boano Factory finished second, while Honda Racing completed the podium.

Fabio Farioli: “It’s been an amazing 6DAYS. Both riders have fought hard since the very first day, and I have to congratulate them because they’ve both ridden incredibly well. When you have two riders fighting for the overall victory, with one finishing first and the other second, naturally one is happier than the other, and I’m really proud of both of them. For KTM to also take victory in the Manufacturer’s Team Award is fantastic. We’ve shown incredible strength throughout the event, and the results are a reflection of all the hard work that has gone into preparing for this race.”
