KTM does NOT stop the production of 2-stroke Enduro models from 2026!

We come to refute the article circulating online recently, from a not very reliable source, that the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer, KTM, will stop manufacturing two-stroke engines from the year 2026!

In the first instance, I contacted KTM Romania to clarify the situation. “I don’t know where the idea came from that two-stroke engines will disappear from the market, it’s all fake news!” declared Emilian Ștefan.

Going even closer to the wire, I contacted KTM’s direct marketing man! “KTM will continue to produce two-stroke enduro bikes! That fake news has reached our ears, we will come with an official statement to clarify the situation to reassure our fans. Yes, for the 2026-2027 models we are already developing the engines that must pass the Euro5+ standard, but there is no question of stopping production!” says Diete Engelbrecht – Offroad Product Marketing Manager.

Imagine what would happen to this sport, if a manufacturer like KTM stopped producing two-stroke bikes, they are already advanced with the injection system, they even now have a reliable and extremely “Race Ready” system!

As you probably know, the injection system will be implemented on the rest of the well-known brands, Rieju – Beta – Sherco. Rieju right now with the new next generation engine on Alfredo Gomez’s bike. Beta has already patented its own injection system, for a good few years, Sherco – same.

Fantic – somehow associated with Yamaha – Yamaha taken over by CFMOTO – CFMOTO shareholder of KTM – they already have a new injection system – probably future Euro5+… so, dear enduro riders, as the saying goes: “Horses don’t die when dogs want!”
