It is that time of the year, when all World is focused on Sibiu for Red Bull Romaniacs 2023! So let’s get started!
We all know the last year’s story when Graham Jarvis made another insane ride and took a flawless win in Sibiu, and got on his hand 7 Red Bull Romaniacs titles! The big question comes now: can the Legendary Graham Jarvis write history again and take his 8th one?
Undeniably one of the greatest hard enduro riders on the planet is back, attempting to defend his title but we have Mani Lettenbichler (DEU, KTM), currently holding a strong lead in the FIM Hard Enduro World Championships will be looking to reclaim his three time top position on the Romaniacs podium this year. Mario Roman (ESP, Sherco) who came third in 2022, Billy Bolt (GBR, Husqvarna), Alfredo Gomez (ESP, Rieju) and Wade Young (ZAF, Sherco) are all established Red Bull Romaniacs veterans and will be fiercly attempting to defend their reign over the future talent of hard enduro.
Then there are the ‘hungry’ competitors, Teo Kabakchiev (BGR) who surprised many by finishing second in 2022, Trystan Hart (CAN, KTM) will be pushing hard to climb the podium ladder, finishing seventh in 2021 at his first ever Red Bull Romaniacs and fourth in 2022 and the future talent who are ready to make their mark; Michael Walkner (AUT), Matthew Green (ZAF) and David Cyprian (CZE).
Pol Tarres (AND) will once again be riding his sturdy stead, the Yamaha Ténéré 700 in Bronze class. After having a crash on Offroad Day 1 last year, Pol Tarres is coming back to set the record straight aiming not only to reach the finish but to be on the podium.
Top of their game female competitors Sandra Gomez (ESP) will be taking on the Gold class again, having already finished in Gold twice before, she strives to beat her own previous times and Kirsten Landman (ZAF) who has competed at Red Bull Romaniacs five times previously however, not since 2018, will be back to battle in Silver class.
The Nations City Ride will kick off the Opening Ceremony of The Impossible. Riders will leave the paddock at 13:00 on their motorcycles and carrying their nations flag. The colourful parade will pass through the historical city centre of Sibiu and 55 nations will be represented. Martin Freinademetz and Andy Fazekas, Prolog director, will lead the parade to the Bulevardul Coposu where press, media and other competitors will be invited to the DEMOmaniacs, which refers to the Gold class demonstration of the first test run of the In-city Prolog. The DEMOmaniacs show will start at 13:45. Riders interviews and press conference will take place at 14:00 followed by a Meet and Greet opportunity with some of the top Gold competitors.
LIVEmaniacs will be live streaming the action with commentary from Daryl Curtis and Craig Stone. Special guest and all time great, Cyril Despres will join them on Offroad Day 3 and 4. Cyril won the first ever Red Bull Romaniacs in 2004 and held onto his title in 2005 and 2007. Cyril has made his mark in the motorsport world by winning countless titles, in particular wining the Dakar Rally five times.
LIVEmaniacs will capture Gold class competitors as they are challenged to three Offroad stages. Each day they will have to complete three laps of some of the gnarliest terrain in front of live cameras and the final Hillclimbs on Offroad Day 4 which will bring the raw action to viewers around the globe. This can also be viewed in REPLAY on the website to suit different time zones.
