234 participants from 20 nations and 3 continents took part in today’s first race day at the MITAS Rocket Ride uphill race at the very bottom of the Erzberg. The gnarly course, consisting of 4 mighty uphills, offered the usual spectacular full-throttle action for the thousands of visitors, who already created a powerful atmosphere during the qualifying from noon onwards. With the active support of Red Bull Erzbergrodeo track construction partner Wacker Neuson, a perfect and extremely selective track was created.
After the spectacular qualifying the fastest 48 riders went into the Superfinal in the evening, first and foremost the two most successful MITAS Rocket Ride participants: Ossi Reisinger (AUT, 5-time winner) and Seppi Fally (AUT, 2-time winner). Despite strong competition, both Austrians made it through all heats to the final, which also included the Spaniard Pol Tarres with his Yamaha Tenere 700. In the end, Seppi Fally put in a flawless, dominant final run on the new Rocket Ride track and took his third trophy. Ossi Reisinger collided with another competitor immediately after the start and went down – bad luck for the likeable Upper Austrian, who would have loved to take his sixth victory at the MITAS Rocket Ride.
