Jonny Walker has finished third overall at the second round of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship held in Riesa, Germany. Frustratingly for Jonny during the night’s opening final a lapped rider crashed in front of him, leaving him with nowhere to go. Dropping from fourth to ninth, Jonny battled his way back to sixth.

As always the reversed start order for the night’s second final ensured plenty of drama. Managing to keep out of trouble during the opening laps Jonny progressed from ninth to as high as third, eventually placing a strong fourth.

Delivering his best result of the night in the third and closing final Jonny ended the opening lap second, hot on the heels of race leader Taddy Blazusiak. Briefly losing ground, with four laps to go Jonny pounced on a mistake by Taddy and moved into the lead. Remaining out front Jonny secured the win and with it a third place overall result.

Jonny Walker:It’s great to get a win here in Germany, and to have topped the Superpole like I did at round one. I lost a little time behind a lapped rider in the rocks early in the last race, and lost a bit of time on Taddy. I pushed hard to catch him and then he went down, which made my job a whole lot easier. I felt good in the lead and stayed out front to take the win. My speed is good – when I have a clear track ahead of me I know I’ve got the speed to win. It just seems I had a few issues when I was trying to work my way forward during the first two races. I was fourth in the first race and got taken out by a lapped rider. I was way back in ninth so to finish sixth wasn’t too bad. In the second race I finished fourth, which from the reversed start was good. Winning the third final is a big thing, it proves that I can do it. All in all it’s been a very positive race for me. It’s great to be on the podium first race out in 2015…

Round three of the FIM SuperEnduro World Championship takes place in Helsinki, Finland on February 1, 2015.
