A major new hard enduro project is set to land in Latin America, with the Red Bull Romaniacs team officially preparing the 2026 Minas Riders Hard Enduro in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

The event is being built in response to the growing demand for top-level, technically demanding races in a country that already has one of the biggest enduro communities in the world. Brazil has the riders, the terrain, the trail network, and the passion. What it has lacked until now is a hard enduro platform with the scale and prestige seen in Europe.

A new chapter for hard enduro in Latin America

The new race is strongly linked to the efforts of Gianino Coscarelli from the Fast Brothers Motor Club, who has been encouraging Martin Freinademetz, founder of Red Bull Romaniacs, to bring a true taste of European hard enduro to Brazil.

The result is the 2026 Minas Riders Hard Enduro, scheduled to begin on September 29, 2026, in Belo Horizonte.

The format will include:

  • a Tuesday time trial
  • Offroad Days 1, 2 and 3 starting on Wednesday
  • a final Offroad Day 4 on Saturday
  • and a major “Grande Finale” inside one of Belo Horizonte’s biggest stadiums

Organisers expect up to 40,000 spectators for that final day.

Racing, atmosphere, and a big Brazilian finish

The Romaniacs team has long been known not only for creating some of the toughest racing in the sport, but also for building an atmosphere around the event. That same spirit is expected to carry into Brazil, where the finale is designed to mix hard enduro with the country’s own energy and lifestyle.

The stadium finish is set to include:

  • live music
  • show acts
  • an intense Endurocross-style final section
  • and a full crowd expected to turn the race ending into a major spectacle

Four classes, brutal terrain

The race itself promises to be a serious challenge. Riders will compete across four classes:

  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Bronze
  • Iron

The opening time trial will decide the start order for Offroad Day 1, and from there the event turns into a daily fight across an average of 100 kilometres per day.

According to the plan, riders will face punishing sections and so-called “impossible” obstacles, adapted to each class.

The Belo Horizonte region adds another layer of difficulty with its wide range of terrain and changing microclimates. It is a course designed to constantly force adaptation, concentration, and survival. Competitors are expected to face a brutal combination of:

  • jungle
  • desert-like sections
  • rock
  • sand
  • gravel
  • deep mud

Freinademetz: passion and madness fit perfectly

Martin Freinademetz believes the local scene is the ideal foundation for this kind of event.

“We know a thing or two about racing – especially Hard Enduro. The local rider communities that host these events on their trails play a crucial role for the success and the atmosphere of the race. The Belo Horizonte Enduro scene is among the most passionate in the world, and their playgrounds are perfectly suited for the Hard Enduro madness. And the tropical setting, in combination with their passion and their party skills add another dimension. We’re stoked to be part of it. It won’t be easy for the riders, though: race during the day and party at night.”
