  • Mathis Valin makes statement by winning 125cc world title.
  • Francesco Assini places MC 65 onto overall podium in third.
  • GASGAS stars take advantage of support from manufacturer.
The GASGAS riders were able to take advantage of support from the manufacturer – a support crew was in attendance with a special area in the paddock. Such assistance proved to be invaluable, especially for those riders who travelled from outside of Europe. GASGAS remains committed to nurturing the next generation.

Mathis Valin was a revelation aboard his MC 125 – he was simply incredible in the first stint and won by fifteen seconds. The best lap time that he posted in that race was a second and a half quicker than anyone else! Incredible. Valin backed that up by claiming the runner-up spot in moto two, which was more than enough to top the overall classification and win the world title. Francisco Garcia ensured that there were two GASGAS riders in the top five; he posted 5-3 scores for fourth overall.
Mathis Valin: This is amazing. I cannot believe I have won the world championship here in Romania! I was first in moto one and second in moto two. Winning here was my goal. Thank you to everyone who supported me. The track was good here – I liked the jumps and the surface.”
There were eleven riders aboard MC 65 machinery in the 65cc division. Francesco Assini, who hails from Italy, was the strongest from that group, as he sprinted to 9-3 scores for third overall. A poor start in the first moto stopped him from challenging for the overall victory.
