After ruling Romania’s motocross tracks for years, nine‑time national champion Krisztian Tompa (25) is ready for the toughest race of his life: the 22nd edition of Red Bull Romaniacs (22–26 July 2025). He will debut in the brand‑new Adventure (“Ultimate”) class, designed for big twin‑cylinder bikes.
Tompa is no stranger to the world stage. In October 2024 he represented Romania at the Motocross of Nations in the MXGP class, proving he is the face of a new Romanian generation.
“Red Bull Romaniacs will be unforgettable—100 %! I just hope for speed, not crazy Romaniacs style climbs,” he laughs. His forest riding is limited to “occasional rides with friends,” but the GPS‑guided course and adjusted speed of the Adventure class make it the perfect way to taste hard‑enduro.
Big‑bike stars like Pol Tarres (Yamaha), Jonny Walker (Triumph) and Sam Sunderland (Triumph) are also on the 2025 entry list, putting extra spotlight on the class.
To attack the mountains around Sibiu, Krisztian chose a Yamaha Ténéré 700 with the GYTR rally kit, bringing:
“It’s an honor to take on one of the toughest rallies in the world with this beast,” he wrote on social media, thanking @yamahamotorro, @motodynamicsgroup and @yamaharacinghellas.
The Adventure class rides dedicated sections, 110–170 km per day, at an average 30–40 km/h, following GPS tracks from the organizers.
Unlike motocross, where the lap never changes, Romaniacs rewards smart navigation. Riders receive daily GPS tracks and checkpoints; Tompa must pace himself and use the smooth torque of the 689 cc twin in the long, rocky climbs.
With less than a week to go, Krisztian is finishing suspension tests and dialing in maintenance: filters, tire pressure, spare parts. “Motocross taught me to attack, but Romaniacs is about playing the long game. Can’t wait to see what the Ténéré an I can do in the mountains,” he told us.
Become the first Romanian to finish Romaniacs in Adventure Ultimate in his debut year.
No matter the result, Krisztian Tompa brings fresh energy to the Romanian moto scene and inspires the next generation to push their limits.
