Running from April through October, the 2026 season blends iconic hard enduro events with fresh destinations, delivering the demanding mix of technical terrain, endurance, and raw adventure that defines the sport at its highest level.

“Our goal for 2026 was clear: to build a compact, world-class calendar that works for riders, teams, and organisers, while giving fans an unforgettable season,” explained HEWC Championship Director Ross Whitehead.
“With nine rounds across some of the most iconic and demanding terrain on the planet, we believe this is a big step forward for the series.”

A Season That Means Business

The championship kicks off in France, with 24MX Alestrem Hard Enduro taking on a prime early-season role from April 17–19. A long-time rider favourite, Alestrem’s return signals a proper hard enduro start to the year on classic Southern French terrain.

From there, the series heads west to Portugal for Extreme XL Lagares (May 1–3), before crossing the Atlantic for Silver Kings Hard Enduro in Idaho, USA (June 18–20) — one of North America’s toughest and most respected events.

Mid-season brings the championship back to Italy, debuting a new venue with Abestone Rodeo Miravalle (July 10–12), adding another demanding chapter to Italy’s deep hard enduro heritage.

Sweden Joins the World Championship

One of the standout moments on the 2026 calendar is the first-ever HEWC round in Sweden, as Forza Orza makes its debut in Orsa Grönklitt on August 20–22.

Set among Scandinavian forests, steep climbs, and panoramic views over Lake Orsasjön, Forza Orza introduces a completely new challenge for riders and opens the door to a new hard enduro audience in Northern Europe.

Legendary Late-Season Showdowns

After Sweden, the championship returns to Italy for round six at Wild Woods Extreme in Genoa (September 11–13), before heading into the brutal final stretch of the season.

The iconic Roof of Africa in Lesotho once again plays a decisive role in the championship fight, followed by two fan-favourite festival finales: Sea to Sky in Turkey and Hixpania in Spain.

From altitude to heat, rocks to forests, and endurance to pure survival — the closing rounds ensure that only the toughest riders will still be standing when the titles are decided.

Zona Enduro Verdict

Nine rounds. Three continents. Zero mercy. The HEWC 2026 calendar delivers a solid mix of legendary events, fresh venues, and true global reach — from the forests of France and Sweden to the altitude of Lesotho and the heat of Turkey.

But there’s still a big elephant in the room.

Two of the most iconic hard enduro races on the planet – ErzbergRodeo and Red Bull Romaniacs – are once again missing from the championship calendar. Events that defined modern hard enduro, shaped world champions, and built the sport’s global reputation remain outside the HEWC structure.

Yes, both events stand strong as independent giants.
Yes, their identity goes far beyond championship points.

Still… for fans, riders, and the history of the sport, seeing a “World Championship” without Erzberg and Romaniacs will always feel incomplete. Quite a shame.

That said, the reality of hard enduro in 2026 is clear: if you want the world title, you’ll have to fly far, suffer long, and survive — because while Erzberg and Romaniacs aren’t on the list, the remaining nine rounds leave absolutely no room for weakness.

World Championship or not… Hard enduro remains the hardest game in motorcycling.
