The UK’s toughest head-to-head motorcycle event returned to Newcastle Quayside—and the local hero delivered. Billy Bolt, the lad from Wallsend, put on a masterclass for the home crowd, storming his way to victory at the Red Bull Tyne Ride.

The event once again pulled in some of the world’s biggest Enduro names, including last year’s champion Jonny Walker, who this time had to settle for second place. The unique riverside setup, combining urban obstacles with Enduro brutality, turned the Quayside into a roaring arena of engines, smoke, and chaos.

Billy Bolt – redemption at home

For Bolt, the win carried extra weight after missing out last year:

“It feels so good. I had to watch from the sidelines last year, so it gave me the opportunity to appreciate how big and how amazing this event is. But riding this year, there was only one goal in my mind and it’s nice to execute that.”

He admitted racing at home added its own pressure:

“The pressure was on as it’s my hometown. I actually felt a bit nervous this morning and there’s a lot of people here with high expectations for me. So, amazing day, amazing crowd, amazing place to ride. Just super grateful to be part of it all.”

The crowd didn’t disappoint either—thousands packed the Quayside, cheering every run as Bolt sent it through obstacles just meters from the river.

“I couldn’t believe the turnout last year and I think we’ve even beaten it this year. Massive credit to everyone who helped put this on and a huge thank you to everyone that’s come out.”

Jonny Walker – runner-up but already eyeing next year

Former champion Jonny Walker, who came in second, was quick to praise the event:

“The crowds are always good here in Newcastle – they’re northerners so everyone gets excited. Everyone’s had a good time and everyone’s so nice. It is like home for me – I’m only an hour and a half away, so I come here all the time. I’m excited for next year already.”
