Alfredo Gomez raced his way to fifth overall. The former Erzbergrodeo winner put in a solid ride in the punishing heat. A steady start saw the experienced veteran work his way forward from ninth to as high as fourth, before securing fifth at the checkered flag.
Alfredo Gomez: “The race was good for me even if I had small mistakes and a bad start, that cost me lots of time, but overall, I’m happy because just 8 riders managed to finish this race! I know I can ride more in front and let’s hope I can make-it happen in the next round.”
Unfortunately for Marc Fernandez this year’s edition was unlucky, he had a crash in Carl’s Dinner which led to a broken arm… still Marc managed to get a 52 position.
Suff Sella was in 30th after the race was closed, in Carl’s Dinner. Suff’s bike was hit by a rolling boulder and smashed his front wheel, leaving him without a front brake.
Suff Sella: “It was a big challenge! Prologue was good, I managed to get in the 1st
row but didn’t get a good start and rode in the dust till a big uphill where everyone was waiting for a clear line. Here a guy pulled a rock and bent my front disc. Here I lost almost an hour and after the second line came, it was absolutely chaos here! Anyway somehow I managed to repair the bike at the service point and the race finish caught me in Carl’s Dinner. Not the expected result, but let’s hope next year I can reach the finish line.”
The FIM Hard Enduro World Championship continues with round four at Italy’s Red Bull Abestone on July 8-10, where AG Racing Team 89 will continue to fight for championship points!
